During the 20's, Watchmaker Hans Gilomen established ONSA as a family company in Lengnau, in the Swiss canton of Bern. The product range included valuable gold watches, chronographs, biorhythm watches, alarm wristwatches and pocket watches. In 1943, Hans-Jörg joins the parental company after completing a watchmaker apprenticeship. Together, father and son transform ONSA into an internationally recognised brand. In 1949, ONSA established a footing in motor racing, and proceeds to donate prizes for the Berne Grand Prix for many years. In 1957, two ONSA 'Automatic Waterproof' watches survive the legendary Atlantic crossing by the 'Mayflower II'. One watch was attached to the ship’s rudder, while the other braved the wind and rain at the top of the mast. In the same year, ONSA also conquered the skies, as all the pilots of the Belgian airline Sabena were equipped with ONSA watches.

This is not a Nautilus model! It is instead a limited trial model that was inspired by both the Nautilus and the Ellipse! It is a Patek Philippe 'Exception' model Reference 3770/11.
Patek utilized the Ellipse oval with Nautilus top with it's 'Ears'. It's a stainless steel and 18k yellow gold quartz experimental wristwatch with a SS and 18k yellow gold Patek Philippe Nautilus bracelet. Patek also modeled the 'Exception' in all stainless too.
During the late 1970's, for several years, Patek tried unsuccessfully to produce a new model that could be as successful as their Nautilus and Ellipse models. The Nautilus and Ellipse were already two of their major successes and thus leading models. They utilized the Ellipse shape plus the Nautilus top. Several versions and sizes of this rare 'Exception' were attempted to facilitate a third successful design and ALL were short-lived. Many confuse this model with the Nautilus as Patek sometimes utilized Nautilus bracelets for their attempt and sometimes only straps.

Production of reference 5085 began in 1999 and was discontinued in 2005, the majority were stainless steel. A series of ONLY 100 examples in 18k were produced, about 50 as the present watch and another 50 with Black dials. THIS incredible wristwatch in 18k gold is extremely RARE! It probably was produced within the late manufacturer period as the movement number is 3,112,xxx. The three largest auction houses have auctioned only 1 Black dial in December, 2006 within the USA. They also auctioned 3 in Europe...a Black dial on November 11, 2007 for CHF43,000 ($41,200), a White dial on November 13, 2006 for CHF42,000 ($40,300) and another White dial on May 14, 2007 for CHF45,600 ($43,700)!

Rolex 18k Pink Gold Tudor Oyster Prince Reference 7909 With Automatic Rolex Movement - Mint! A Collectible For Sure!
This is a significant exception to the normal Tudor movements! This fantastic Pink Gold Tudor has the Rolex developed Caliber 390 automatic movement engineered by Rolex during the early 1950's. Most of the earlier Tudors were created from less expensive movements purchased from Ebauches S.A. and then ETA. An exception was this "Rotor-Prince" Caliber 390 developed by Rolex around 1950. This is a rugged automatic movement with it's central rotor winding in both directions. The Rolex 1030 movement is similar developed during this same periods...including the shape of the rotors, the hlaltese spring to stop the rotor, and the sprung discs of the twin click wheels like those of the older Perpetual movements. The Rolex Caliber 390 has a diameter of 28.5 mm by 6.25 mm thick and is 17 jewels.
